We're on the hunt for a hungry industrial and/or mechanical electrician who is interested in moving into the film and VFX industry. In this role, you will oversee the physical infrastructure and day-to-day performance of Weta FX's data centres and general electrical needs for Weta FX's wider facilities.
How you'll make an impact: The Data Centre Facilities Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the uninterrupted operation of Weta FX's critical data centres and other machine rooms. These facilities house core IT infrastructure that supports the company's daily operations. The primary focus of this role is to maintain the capacity, availability, and reliability of the data centres 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and working with and supporting the Facilities Maintenance team across Weta FX's building portfolio providing electrical and data services.
What you'll do: Monitoring facility performance through SCADA and other systems, responding to issues, and conducting regular checks to ensure everything is functioning as expected.Develop and follow maintenance plans for all critical systems to minimise downtime and ensure operational efficiency. You will also be expected to provide rostered on-call coverage for urgent issues that arise outside of regular business hours, ensuring quick response times to any incidents.Manage relationships with external suppliers and contractors ensuring that any work done within the data centre and wider facilities is performed to a high standard and with minimal impact on operations.Lead on various projects, from infrastructure upgrades to service improvements.Maintaining the security of the data centres is a critical responsibility. You will manage access controls, surveillance, and environmental monitoring systems to ensure that the facilities remain secure and that risks are identified and addressed promptly.Be responsible for ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and policies, contributing to hazard management processes, and reporting any incidents or near-misses.What you'll bring: A strong technical background in electrical and/or mechanical plant operations.Electrical or mechanical certifications, with a valid NZ electrical practicing license.Experience with SCADA/BMS monitoring and ideally have data centre infrastructure operations.Proven ability to develop and implement operating procedures.Strong problem-solving skills and able to troubleshoot complex technical issues while managing multiple tasks and projects.Strong communication skills are also important, as you will be liaising with various teams across the business and with external stakeholders.Given the unique environment of this role, a willingness to learn and upskill will be critical.Why Join Us?
