Clinical Nurse Specialist - Acute Surgical Unit – Auckland City HospitalFixed Term – Full time Parental Leave Cover RoleHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleWe are looking for a senior registered nurse with strong leadership and advanced nursing skills and a strong interest in General Surgery to join our team as Clinical Nurse Specialist in ASU.You will provide professional and clinical leadership, patient care co-ordination, education and clinical teaching to patients and staff.
The role covers primary, secondary and tertiary care of Acute Surgical Unit patients.
You will need to work autonomously and as part of a supportive senior nursing team committed to evidenced based nursing practice.We are looking for a proactive person who is ready for a new challenge and a chance to take a step up in their career path.The Acute Surgical Team is unique where all the emergency presentations are initially managed at Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital.
It is a large team managing a high volume of patients and provides specialist care and case management to the Acute Surgical patient population; it is one of five General Surgical subspecialties.This is a fulltime fixed term position working 40 hrs/week, Monday to Sunday.About youTo ensure success in the role you will need to have an extensive surgical nursing background.It is essential that you meet the following criteria:Have NZ nursing registration with a current Annual Practicing CertificatePracticing at a senior level preferably with a postgraduate certificate or diploma in speciality nursingHave at least 3-5 years post graduate experience preferably in General Surgical/TraumaInteract effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and service membersMaintain safe cultural practice and develop your cultural knowledgeHave excellent supervisory, communication and problem-solving skills in order to relate to and work with staff and patients at all levels.Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
