We need to fill this space with another much-loved palliative care nurse who has an infectious laugh that sets off the whole office.Could this new nurse be you?
Come over to our offices on Goulstone Road and have a chat with us about what the role will require.
You can meet some of our team and enjoy a cup of instant coffee that has once been voted best coffee in Eastern Bay.We're looking for someone who has the same passion we do for making the end-of-life journey easier and more comfortable for our patients.
Ideally, if you're an experienced palliative nurse, we want you to call us.
However, if you have at least 5 years nursing experience and a keen interest in learning more about palliative care, we'd love to hear from youYou'll be working closely with other clinical staff in our team and out in the community, and also with patients and carers, so you'll need to have great patient assessment skills as well as advanced communication skills and time management.Being a palliative care nurse is something quite special.
We care for patients and their whanau at a highly vulnerable stage of their life, and our clinical team sees them through until their last day and then for some time afterwards with their loved ones.
We bond with our patients, and the 'job' becomes not a job anymore.You'll find a connection to this job like you've never had before.You will need:Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.Current New Zealand Driver's license.Be a citizen of New Zealand or have permanent residency.The role will require you to be confident to work independently in the community to:Provide culturally appropriate holistic community care to patients and whanau affected by life-limiting illnesses.Skillfully assess patient and whanau needs.Provide pain and symptom management in collaboration with the GP and other healthcare providers.Liaise with, educate, and support other healthcare providers such as in ARC facilities.There are no night shifts or shift work; however, you will be part of an overnight and weekend on-call roster (approx.
4 weekly).
If you want to further your education, we will encourage you to do this and provide support.
We love families, and if you have a family (this includes pets), you're almost expected to share stories of your weekends with us since we'll be your new work family.Our work environment is very supportive, full of exceptional huggers and great listeners.
