Sitting within a small team of advisors and clinicians, the key role of the senior advisor will be to: * Provide strategic and operational support to the Director of Mental Health and Addiction, * Initiate, develop and maintain effective working relationships, * Add value to the work of others through quality assurance, peer review, mentoring and coaching, * Support the management of key high-risk projects and issues, * Provide high quality advice and analysis.
This role can make a real difference.
We are therefore seeking a person with previous experience in advisory positions, working strategically and applying critical thinking, and with sound judgment.
You will have a comprehensive understanding of the New Zealand Health and Disability sector, with excellent relationship management skills.
Ko pukenga - What you'll bring * Extensive knowledge and understanding of the mental health and addictions system, * Experience leading projects and implementing initiatives and change at a local, regional or national level, * Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and the ability to talk and write clearly about issues for a range of audiences and stakeholders, * Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to think ahead, establish priorities, and plan accordingly, * Interest in mental health, human rights and the law Ko wai matou - About us At Manatu Hauora – Ministry of Health we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance.

We support services to deliver effective mental health, addiction treatment and compulsory care for their areas of responsibility.
We administer protective mechanisms that aim to ensure that any compulsory intervention only reduces a consumer's rights to the extent necessary for treatment and care to be effective.
