From designing exceptional menus to maintaining cost efficiency and leading a talented team, this role is ideal for a chef who thrives on both the creative and operational sides of the industry.What You'll DoMenu Creation: Design and execute innovative, seasonal menus that showcase fresh, local ingredients and align with our brand values.Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor a team of skilled chefs, fostering a positive and professional work environment.Operational Excellence: Manage kitchen operations, ensuring smooth service and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation.Cost Management: Monitor and manage labor costs, food costs, and waste to meet key performance indicators (KPIs).Stock and Ordering: Oversee stock control, supplier relationships, and ordering processes to ensure efficient kitchen operations and minimize waste.Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Maintain labor costs within set budget targets.Achieve food cost margins by minimizing waste and managing portions effectively.Ensure a consistent standard of food quality with minimal guest complaints.Efficient stock management to reduce over-ordering or shortages.Build and retain a high-performing kitchen team with minimal turnover.What We're Looking ForExperience: At least 3 years in a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef role in a high-end, fast-paced environment.Culinary Expertise: Proven ability to create exceptional menus and deliver outstanding dishes that delight guests.Leadership Skills: A track record of recruiting, training, and leading diverse kitchen teams.Operational Skills: Experience managing budgets, labor costs, and inventory with a focus on efficiency and sustainability.Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-volume environment, especially during peak seasons.Passion and Vision: A genuine love for food and a drive to create unforgettable dining experiences.Why Join Us?At Cable Bay Vineyards, you'll have the chance to work in one of New Zealand's most stunning locations while leading a passionate team to deliver world-class culinary experiences.
