Educational Psychologist - Supported Learning. Permanent James Cook High School – Manurewa, North Island
James Cook High School is a diverse and vibrant learning community committed to doing the very best for our students. Our current roll of 1,600 students has grown considerably in 2024 and with a further predicted roll growth for 2025.
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and registered educational psychologist to support a diverse student population. This is a part-time 0.5 FTTE, permanent, term-time only role that commences 28th January 2025.
James Cook High School is a school with sustained improvements across a wide range of metrics, including improving learning, engagement, and achievement. Driven by the core purpose to provide 'quality child & family assessment & intervention, valued by all involved', our day-to-day work is anchored on the James Cook team values and culture.
What you'll be doing:
Working with children & young people from a wide variety of backgrounds up to 18 years of age.
Providing 1:1 assessment & therapy as well as coaching for families.
Working in your areas of expertise with opportunities including assessment of ADHD, ASD, Intellectual Functioning, Giftedness, Learning Disability, FASD, Parenting Capacity.
Opportunity for multidisciplinary assessment alongside speech language therapy and occupational therapy.
You'll provide joint sessions with the wider team when required.
Provide individualised education plans for students.
Provide teachers tools to engage students in a mainstream school setting.
You will have:
Registration as a psychologist and a current APC.
A minimum of 2 years experience.
The ability to work within a team.
A proven history of providing quality assessments & intervention.
The ability to effectively manage your time & caseload.
Empathy and understanding towards our students and their culture.
