Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.About the roleWe are looking for an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join our established and supportive finance team. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Finance, senior leaders, and cost centre managers, partnering across the organisation to provide expert financial advice and analysis. You will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting to enable effective decision-making and ensure the Authority's financial objectives are achieved.If you thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy delivering impactful financial insights and solutions, this role is for you.Key responsibilitiesYou will support the organisation through the following:Partnering with managers and budget holders to provide financial insights, support effective decision-making, and enhance financial capabilityDelivering accurate and timely financial reporting, including variance analysis, to inform the Senior Leadership Team, Board, and Audit and Finance CommitteeSupporting the Head of Finance in identifying, monitoring, and managing financial risks and ensuring compliance with statutory and public sector requirementsLeading initiatives to improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools, while championing continuous improvement and best practicesDeveloping and maintaining educational materials and training to upskill managers on financial planning and reportingYou will bring the following:Similar advisory or partnering experiencePublic sector and/or industry experienceA minimum of 7-10 years' experience in an accounting or finance roleCA qualification, including membership preferredStrong knowledge of finance reporting and planning systemsExcellent written and verbal communications skillsThe ability to support and develop team membersThe ability to build and maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholdersWhy work for us?The salary for this role starts at $110,000, and we're open to negotiation with the right candidate, based on skills and experience.We support a healthy work-life balance and offer a range of benefits to support our teams.A 3% net contribution to your KiwiSaverFlexible working optionsOngoing training, support, and professional development to help you growOpportunities for career advancementA range of health, wellbeing, and social initiatives including wellbeing and working from home allowances, access to Habit Health and EAP services for you and your whanauRegular social events to connect with colleagues across the yearAre you interested?If you're ready for a challenge and want to help shape the future of electricity in New Zealand, click "apply now" and complete the online application form including a cover letter.To apply for this role, you must have a legal right to work in New Zealand at the time of submitting your application.Applications close on Wednesday, 11 December 2024.We may start considering applications as they are received, so we encourage you to apply early.
