Mo te tunga | About the roleAs the Senior Adviser Emergency Management responsible for the Auckland, Northland and Waikato region, you'll play a key role in developing and delivering the Department's emergency management systems, processes, and frameworks.
You'll work across planning, training, and exercising, making sure we not only meet legal and regulatory requirements but also ensure that our staff are confident and competent to respond to disruptive incidents and emergencies.You will manage a portfolio of projects and activities aligned to our work programme, support multi-agency exercises, and represent the department in collaborative emergency management groups.
Your expert advice will help shape policy, guide operational practice, and support stakeholders at all levels.This role will also see you facilitating working groups, developing guidelines and procedures, and building trusted relationships both within the department and with partner agencies.You will need a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence and must have the flexibility to travel and to form a part of the national response to an emergency if needed.
You will also be required to go on an on-call 24/7 Duty roster.

* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to make good decisions under pressure.
* Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experience writing and running desktop exercises ideally for inter-agency response scenarios.
* Applicants must be qualified in Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) Level 4.
* Desirable if you have experience delivering CIMS training.
* Desirable you hold a university degree in Emergency Management or other relevant discipline.
* Desirable if you have experience in response coordination systems that include tools such as ARCGIS.
Utu a-tau | SalaryThe midpoint of the salary range is $119,013 and the full range (85%-120%) is $101,162 - $142,816.
Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
