About the roleAt InterpreterServices, we call on a pool of interpreters dedicated to interpreting fornon-English speaking and Deaf patients.
The Interpreter Services booking teamco-ordinate arrangements between the health professionals and the interpreterto ensure the patients have anindependent interpreter present at the appropriate time and location.
We arealways on the lookout for trained interpreters and particularly speakers of Farsi, Russian, Thai and Korean, but we have a demandfor many, many other languages as well.Most of therequests for interpreters are at Christchurch Public Hospital and ChristchurchWomen - s Hospital but we also get requests from Burwood Hospital, HillmortonHospital and Princess Margaret Hospital, some private practices, as well ashome visits.
At times the interpreters are required to phone the patient to forexample, remind/advise them of appointments or actually translate over thephone.
In this role, you willbe responsible for: * Accurate interpreting between thehealth professional and the patient * Maintaining confidentiality and privacyfor the patient at all times * Acting in a professional manner at alltimes * Punctuality when attending allappointments - this is critical * Ensuring all timesheets are accuratelycompleted and signed and retuned to the Interpreting Services OfficeAbout youSkills and experience * Fluency in English and at least 1 otherlanguage (Farsi and Cantonese) * Professionally trained in interpreting preferably in a medical environment * A NAATI qualification (or working towards it), NAATI recognised qualification.
