(Your work covers your accommodation costs during the period up to 06/12/2024). Starting on December 7th, you will job share the management of the backpackers. You will be working Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am to 9pm and will earn $25 an hour. You will be off from Monday to Friday. While you still have the accommodation during the week you can find an additional job during the week if desired.It is an advantage to arrive early and learn the cleaning role while doing reception training.This city has so much to offer with beaches, mountain views, fun nightlife, luscious gardens and nearby walks, concerts, and retail therapyThe hostel is actually a former prison - it will be one of your most interesting experiences and accommodations in New ZealandWe are looking for a smiley, fun person to join our awesome, friendly family-like team and help manage the hostel, working with overseas tourists of all nationalities.This would suit someone who wants to learn about running a tourist business, as full training from experienced operators will be given. You will gain valuable experience on how to run an award-winning hostel in the beautiful city of Christchurch.This is a co-manager, job-sharing, live-in, OE type of experience, meaning there is plenty of time to experience Christchurch and surrounding area.You would need to be a great team player. Due to the training involved, be able to fully commit for a minimum of 3 to 6 months.Flexibility is required as we may adjust the set/on-call hours to suit the summer season and customer demand.In addition to shared accommodation, wifi, use of a bike, laundry, etc., you will receive wages too (after a deduction for the cost of accommodation).You need to love working with people and have good attention to detail, be computer literate, and preferably be social-media savvy. You would need to post 2-3 photos a week on Instagram/Facebook, etc.You will be managing the day-to-day running of the hostel including:Covering reception hours, including some cleaning, plus on-call afternoon and overnight hours where we primarily operate self-check-in (guests may call if they have any problems with self-check-in).Making bookings, extending bookings, taking payment, check-ins, check-outs, emails.Using our PMS system which integrates with our Door Lock system.Supporting our permanent Housekeeping Manager/hostel Mum by hiring travelers for Housekeeping duties and organizing the cleaning roster.Happy to pitch in with cleaning.Social media posts, monitoring reviews.Other hostel managing duties.Full training will be given; however, experience in customer-facing roles is a big advantage.Because of the amount of training involved, you do need to commit to staying a minimum of 3 - 6 months.If this job excites you, please email us with your name, CV with work experience, date of arrival in Christchurch, and ideal length of stay.
