Emergency Management Bay of Plenty is seeking a talented and experienced Manager, Planning to join our passionate Tauranga-based team.During business-as-usual this new role will focus on leading a team to build relationships and plans, so that local people and agencies are well prepared to cope when disaster strikes.
During an emergency, the focus will shift to delivery and adaptation of those plans in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, ensuring a rapid response to the unfolding needs of our most at-risk communities.Te ahuatunga a te turanga About the roleReporting to the Director of Emergency Management Bay of Plenty, the Manager Planning is responsible for leading a team to develop strategy, policy, systems and resources that inform our planning direction and enable us to achieve great outcomes in the areas of Risk Reduction, Community Resilience, Operational Readiness and Recovery.
This includes working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to leverage technology, grow our strength in continuous improvement, lead the coordination and analysis of hazard risk in the Bay of Plenty, and contribute as a key member of the Civil Defence Emergency Management leadership team.
The Manager, Planning also fulfils the role of Group Recovery Manager under the CDEM Act 2002 and will lead the CDEM Group Recovery from major emergencies and disasters.O pumanawa Your skills and experienceWe are looking for a dynamic individual with:Minimum of 7-10 years' relevant technical experience in emergency management or a related relevant field.Demonstrable experience in emergency management response or in a relatable high pressure, high complexity environment.Demonstrated critical thinking, project planning, delivery and monitoring, report and policy writing experience.High level of judgement with the ability to make effective decisions in complex situations combined with the discretion and tact to handle confidential and private information.Experience working positively and collaboratively within a team and the ability to create and maintain extensive networks across a broad range of stakeholders.An excellent knowledge of the Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Act 2002, National Disaster Resilience Strategy and the National CDEM Plan Order 2015 is desirable.Strong team leadership capability.Ko wai matou Who we areEmergency Management Bay of Plenty works collaboratively in the coordination of civil defence and emergency management activities across the Bay of Plenty Region.
