The role of Senior Claims Consultant, Marine is an external customer facing role and will support our claims offering in Marine, specifically Cargo, Hull, Liability and Contractor's Plant and Equipment Claims.
In this role the Senior Claims Consultant will work in a company that is dedicated to being best in class and will be based in our Auckland, NZ office.
Duties & Responsibilities: Proactively manage a broad portfolio of marine claims from first notice of loss through to ultimate resolution in accordance with the BHSI Claims Service Standards, which ensure the highest level of customer service.
Provide clear communication to insureds and brokers, working in partnership to achieve strong results for insured Identify and pursue all subrogation and salvage opportunities.
Analyse coverage and effectively communicate coverage positions to brokers and customers.
Assess loss exposures, posting timely and accurate reserves, and maintain high quality files from a technical content standpoint.
Work closely with underwriters, actuaries and other areas of the business to report on claim developments and trends and support the delivery of BHSI's plans, goals and objectives.
As needed travel to client / broker meetings, mediations, conferences and other industry events.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Minimum of 5 years of claims handling experience, including 3 years of marine experience.
Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
Strong time management and organization skills, and ability to manage claims across multiple products.
