This includes our WaSH programmes in Kiribati and Tuvalu and our water sector support programmes in Vanuatu.You will also be expected to provide some support to our consulting team on specialist inputs such as MERL and GEDSI analyses.ResponsibilitiesThe responsibilities of the Programme Manager include:Oversee a small team to deliver a set of established projects and programmes in the Pacific region, including monitoring and reporting impact.Manage the design process for any future funding applications including writing proposals, developing budgets, resourcing plans, safety plans and communication plans.Engage and manage consultants to support deliverables where necessary, including overseeing agreements, monitoring performance and managing relationships.Assist other members of the EWB team with input into MERL and GEDSI considerations.Contribute to the annual plan and annual budget process.Write or improve policies and procedures, and monitor for compliance.Manage relationships with a broad range of stakeholders in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.Develop new partnerships in the Pacific Islands.Nurture the growth and development of junior staff, ensuring that they are continually learning and gaining new skills.EWBNZ is committed to ensuring a culture that supports continuous improvement and the flexibility that comes with it.
This means that the responsibilities of the Programme Manager are likely to evolve over time, in consultation with the EWBNZ CEO.
There is significant potential for EWBNZ to grow and exciting opportunities for the incoming International Programmes Manager to play a key part in growing a dynamic and committed team.Reporting and key relationshipsThe International Programmes Manager will report directly to the EWBNZ CEO and will be responsible for overseeing project staff.Skills and knowledgeQualifications and LanguageBachelor degree qualification/s in a relevant field such as development studies, economics/political science or sociology.
A masters degree in Development Studies is desirable.Highly proficient in English language (written and verbal).
Some proficiency in a Pacific language (including Te Reo Maori) is desirable.ExperienceAt least five years of experience working in the international development sector, including managing, designing, monitoring and evaluating programmes.Experience working in the Pacific region.An understanding of WaSH and experience managing WaSH programmes.Experience managing culturally diverse teams, including providing coaching and support to team members to meet a set of clearly defined expectations.Able to independently manage complex projects, taking responsibility for the planning, management and delivery of activities on time and budget.Existing strong relationships with donors and stakeholders in the Pacific region is desirable.Able to manage time effectively.Literate with software such as the Microsoft Office suite, and able to learn to use new tools and processes.Personal AttributesAn understanding of, and a passion for, EWBNZ's purpose, and a commitment to undertaking work to reduce poverty across the Pacific.Demonstrates adaptability of resilience in dynamic or changing environments with the ability to adjust priorities or approaches to meet evolving needs.An entrepreneurial mindset, including a desire to examine strategy, monitor the impact of changes and modify where necessary.A desire to see growth in the skills and abilities of others, both within EWBNZ, and within the organisations and communities we work with.Remuneration and working environmentThis is a full time and permanent role.
Remuneration will be between $90,000 and $120,000 (per annum) depending on experience, and will comply with EWBNZ Remuneration Policy.All EWBNZ staff work from home and undertake most interactions with colleagues (located in Christchurch, Auckland, Suva, Funafuti, and Port Vila) via teleconferencing.
We do not hold set office hours; you will be expected to manage your own time and work out what works best for you and your colleagues.
A successful candidate will therefore need to be comfortable with this arrangement.International travel within the Pacific to visit programmes and attend conferences or meetings is required several times per year, as is domestic travel to attend functions.EWBNZ provides an allowance for the necessary technology for full time staff to do their job, as well as an allowance to pay for mobile phone bills and internet.All EWBNZ staff are required to undertake a police check prior to starting work, and will be screened for child safeguarding purposes.
