Change, Transition and Release Manager * Based at Royal New Zealand Police College Porirua * Police Employee * Permanent – Full Time * Nav * JR 5152394 Mo te tunga | About the role The Change, Transition and Release Manager is responsible for the change and release practices at NZ Police, including the operation of the Change Advisory Board and managing approvals for change requests.
The Release Management practice provides Product and Project teams with criteria to be met to ensure releases meet quality standards for release into production.
The team is also responsible for an internally provided service that supports Product and Project teams transition to production, for example the production of knowledge articles for new or amended services.
This service aims to deliver required artefacts on a chargeable basis, where Product or Project teams needs support to deliver to the required operational readiness criteria.
Key Accountabilities: * Leadership of a small team including performance management.
development planning and administrative tasks.
* Initiating, leading and driving change and release practice improvements with a view to taking a change enablement approach.
* Clear and timely communications to stakeholders including feedback to stakeholders on expectations with regard the change and release practices.
* Enforcing the requirements of good change management and following up when non-compliance is detected.
* Maintaining change and release policies, processes, and procedures.
* Building positive stakeholder relationships including with Product Managers, Service Management colleagues, vendors, and senior leaders.
* Contributing to the service management leadership team and supporting colleagues.
* Develop and track performance measures for change and release.

* Ensuring the Police business groups have the opportunity to be involved in the release to production process.

You will have experience managing IT changes and releases and have a good understanding of how to apply operational readiness criteria.
You will understand what is required to support Project and Product teams meet the requirements to deliver successful changes and releases.
You will have strong communication skills and be able to manage communication to stakeholders in situations where there is a need to have compliance with change and release practices.
You will understand good practice in managing across the service/solution delivery lifecycle and experience applying operational readiness criteria would be an advantage.
Experience in understanding how to transform an organisation from a traditional change management approach to a change enablement approach would be advantageous, as is how to apply change enablement thinking to DevOps and continual delivery environments.
You will have demonstrated ability to work and collaborate across teams and be able to enforce change management and release standards where non-compliance is detected.
Previous team leadership in an organisation under a business transformation would be an advantage.
You will need the following.
* A full driver license * Be a NZ citizen or have NZ Residency * Experience working in an IT change and Release team, ideally in a large organisation.
* ITIL Foundation certificate * Good understanding of ITIL version 4.
* Change Management related qualifications an advantage e.g.
ITIL Intermediate level * Good written and verbal communication skills.
