We are looking for an experienced Test and Release Manager to join the Information Technology team. You are a technology professional with a history of managing testing, assurance, and software releases in a complex technology environment. You are confident upholding quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and managing the implementation of new IT solutions in alignment with agreed expectations and outcomes. You'll be uplifting Test & Release capability in a uniquely challenging environment and will bring the experience in where and how we go about this.

We are seeking candidates who have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience, with at least three years in Software testing, release management, or a related field.
  • Experience in managing testing and release processes in a software development environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • High level of computer literacy, including experience with testing tools and release management software.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.

You will be responsible for coordinating the testing process, managing outsourced vendors and testers, and overseeing the entire release management process from planning through to post-implementation support. You will work closely with Systems Analysts and outsourced providers who undertake testing activities.

Primary deliverables for the Test and Release Manager include:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive testing strategy, ensuring all IT solutions conform to required quality standards.
  • Plan and lead testing activities across all stages of product, system, and service development, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
  • Provide authoritative advice and guidance on test planning, execution, and the use of automated tools and techniques.
  • Measure and monitor adherence to testing standards, assessing risks and implementing preventative measures.
  • Identify improvements to testing processes and contribute to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for testing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the release of new IT solutions and services, ensuring risk assessments are completed for each release.
  • Work closely with outsourced vendors to ensure all aspects of the release process, including deployment and post-implementation support, are effectively managed.
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams on release scheduling and communicate progress and issues during the release cycle.
  • Conduct post-release reviews to identify areas of improvement for future releases and ensure release processes and procedures are followed.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to promote the adoption of appropriate methods and tools in line with organisational policies and standards.
  • Manage relationships with outsourced vendors and testers, ensuring they deliver quality work in line with contractual agreements and organisational standards.
  • Be the primary point of contact for all testing and release-related activities, facilitating communication between the organisation, vendors, and stakeholders.

The salary band for this role is $103,982 - $115,536.
