This is a critical front-facing Ward Administration role within the Clinical Support Admin Team.
You will provide administrative support to our consultants and clinical teams and assist with managing patients to ensure daily flow throughout the ward with presentations and discharges of both patients and paperwork, ensuring a smooth operation of vital clinical services.Our preferred applicants will be required to undertake a computer skills assessment.About the Team/Service/LocationOur Clinical Support Services play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities.
By providing essential administrative and secretarial assistance, we enable clinical teams to focus on delivering exceptional patient care.
From coordinating schedules to managing documentation, we are the backbone of the hospital's daily operations.
We provide a great place to work with professional development and career growth opportunities, job security, and workplace wellness programmes.About you:Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and staff within the ward.Manage essential administrative tasks, including scheduling, data entry, and document management.Collaborate closely with clinical staff to support patient care delivery.Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.Skills and experienceProven experience in administrative or secretarial roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask in a busy environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with healthcare management systems.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.A high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.A typing speed of 50 words per minute or more is essential.Knowledge of medical terminology is an advantage but not essential.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth NZ is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
