Senior Advisor Response Capability – Emergency Management Training – Wellington – Fixed Term

Shape the future of our emergency management and strengthen training that directly supports our ability to respond to complex emergencies across NZ.

As part of our Service Delivery Design directorate, this position will actively support strategic objectives to enhance Fire and Emergency's emergency management training and capability development. Key duties involved will include working across the organisation to build supporting training programmes and frameworks aimed at our emergency management staff.

Aligned with the organisation's Incident Command System, you will design an emergency management capability development framework and support development of training packages that integrate seamlessly with the broader emergency management system. This is a fixed term or secondment position until 30 June 2025.

This role works across a wide range of stakeholders within our diverse organisation, so your excellent relationship building skills and strong ability to explain complex information to a wide audience will be key to your success. You will work with subject matter experts to ensure frameworks and training meet our organisations needs. It would be an advantage to understand New Zealand's emergency management system.

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will have:

  • Proven experience in designing capability development frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advice in assessing, approving and building comprehensive training programmes
  • Experience working in a large complex organisation, with an agile approach
  • Proven experience in supporting business-as-usual functions to design and deliver training content.
  • Strategic thinking and problem solving within a team environment

The salary range for this role is $114,663 - $127,404 (pro rata), dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
