We are looking for a Duty Manager to join our Hamilton team at BURGERBURGER MADE. Applicants must have a current managers certificate. This is a part-time role.
1. Who are we? We are New Zealand's most ambitious hospitality company. More specifically, we own the legend that is Burger Burger and a creative agency called MATES.
Founded by renowned entrepreneur Mimi Gilmour & Executive Chef Adrian Chilton, we are about to make a play into a number of other spaces, including international expansion.
2. What is the job? We need a talented and ambitious hospo legend who wants to take charge of their career, develop their business management skills, and continue to develop as a leader. We love to promote from within. All of our current Duty Managers have risen their way into management via internal promotion. We value goal setting and empowering staff to achieve new heights
This is a job for someone that likes a challenge. You will be responsible for managing the performance alongside the Venue Manager (VM) and ensuring that the targets are not only met but exceeded.
You will need to have experience working in fast-paced environments, have a natural flair and "jazzy-ness," and a creative side that is balanced with the ability to execute our backend systems with precision.
Take ownership of the day-to-day service elements.
Be comfortable operating, and eventually running, service with confidence and ease.
Care about the people and assist the VM in training the FOH team.
Assist the VM in maintaining the extremely positive team culture.
Assist the VM in managing consistency of service.
3. Why would I want to work at a "burger joint"? I am ambitious… Well first of all, Burgers, more specifically Burger Burger, is where the gold is. That's right, we own all six of our restaurants nationwide. They are all enormously successful, and with a massive future ahead of us, this is like getting in on the ground floor of a fortune 500 company before it goes public.
The right candidate will be someone who has been excelling in their current role but wants to take the next step and wants that opportunity to climb the ladder. You will treat each day as an opportunity to grow yourself and will be provided with training tailored specifically to give you the tools and expertise that you need to grow.
4. Who are we looking for? Someone with the right character can be taught anything. We have a very particular way of doing things around here, which is always based on the idea that "the best idea wins." We want people with personality. People who get a buzz from making someone's day.
A "get stuff done" enthusiastic attitude is essential. People who complain are annoying. Solve the problem or communicate so we can solve it with you.
Experience in a senior position in a restaurant is preferred but not essential. If you have a good head on your shoulders, ambition, creativity, and people skills - we can train you. All good managers started somewhere. You must be street smart (Have initiative & common sense).
