I am currently working with a specialist consultancy who are in the market for a technical engineer to help drive their team forward. Recognised for their work in resilient designs and seismic assessments, they deliver exceptional engineering solutions across commercial, residential, and public-sector projects, with a particular focus on seismic resilience and sustainability. Role Overview
This role would be suited to an upper intermediate/senior structural engineer with a deep technical focus and strong leadership capabilities. In this role, you’ll be applying your expertise in seismic and structural engineering to solve complex challenges and work on projects that enhance the resilience of buildings and infrastructure in one of the world’s most seismically active regions. This position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact through design and assessment excellence while mentoring and developing junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver structural designs on a variety of projects, including commercial, residential, and heritage structures, with a specific focus on seismic resilience.
  • Conduct comprehensive structural assessments and develop seismic strengthening and retrofit strategies tailored to each project.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to provide technical insights and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers, promoting a culture of knowledge-sharing and technical development.
  • Stay current with industry standards, seismic engineering trends, and best practices.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant NZ based consulting experience, with a strong background in seismic design and complex structural projects.
  • CPEng accreditation or a commitment to working towards this.
  • Strong technical knowledge and proficiency in structural analysis software, complemented by excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and passionate about resilient engineering.
  • Strong communication skills and confident in client-facing scenarios.
