**Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity**

The Senior Principal Engineer - Structures shall be **Chartered with Engineers NZ or body recognised by Eng NZ.**

They will work closely with General Managers and Project Managers, ensuring through oversight and review that technical knowledge is applied to manage and/or execute the investigation and design of a range of Structures projects.

The role will work closely with customers and physical works staff to identify and capture design/build opportunities and to provide the design input necessary to deliver cost effective innovative solutions. The Senior Principal Structures Engineer will be responsible for providing specialised detailed Structures/Temporary Works engineering knowledge.

Key result areas include but are not limited to:

- **Technical & Planning**: Coordinate and oversee assigned technical services and provide specialist technical and operational improvement advice and assistance to operations.
- **Outcome Management**:Assist in the implementation of control framework and monitoring process.
- **People Management & Development**:Communicate effectively using a personal tone manner and style consistent with building a “best employer” work environment.
- **Quality Assurance & Risk Management: Ensure appropriate quality assurance systems and processes are implemented and applied.**:

- **Zero Harm**:Support, implement and adhere to H&S policies and procedures.

**Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills | Qualifications**

It is necessary to have:

- Washington Accord tertiary qualification in Engineering
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng)
- Member or Fellow of Engineers New Zealand (MEngNZ or FEngNZ)
- +20 years’ experience in Structures Engineering

It is desirable to have
- Recognised specialist experience in one or more technical engineering disciplines
- Proven willingness and capability to learn and to foster development of other Downer technical staff
- Strong problem solving skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- A strong track record that clearly demonstrates leadership behaviours that empower others to make decisions, deliver and succeed.
- A positive attitude and commitment to providing a high quality of service.
