Uruuruwhenua Health Inc. is a kaupapa Maori organisation dedicated to promoting whanau success using the Maori model of wellbeing, Te Whare Tapa Wha, in strengthening all four pillars of wellbeing. Our kaupapa focuses on delivering health and support services that honour Maori values and traditions. We seek a passionate and skilled Kaiawhina Hauora to join our team and contribute to our goal.
Role Overview:
As a Kaiawhina Hauora, you will play a crucial role in supporting the health and well-being of individuals and whanau and ensuring everyone has access to healthcare services within our community. You will work closely with our Hauora team to provide culturally responsive care and ensure that our services are delivered with respect and understanding of Maori customs and values.
Key Responsibilities:
Promote all aspects of health under the Te Whare Tapa Wha model of wellbeing, including immunisation, health screening initiatives, mental wellbeing, and promoting the services available in our community.
Support our Manukura Hauora to coordinate and facilitate our health clinics and health-related wananga.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and community organisations to coordinate comprehensive care.
Walk alongside whanau on their healthcare journey by supporting whanau to create their own personalised health plan and to set and reach their hauora goals.
Support the cultural and spiritual well-being of whanau by incorporating Maori traditions and practices into care plans.
Support mama, pepi and whanau from conception to 5 years, helping navigate healthcare, education, and hauora goals.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of whanau interactions and services provided.
Skills and Qualifications:
Strong understanding of Maori culture, values, and customs.
Previous experience in a health or social support role is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with whanau and community members.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently as needed.
A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals and whanau.
This role requires the successful applicant to acquire Health and Wellbeing Certificate Level 3 or 4.
