The model describes health and wellbeing as a wharenui/meeting house with four walls.These walls represent:Taha Hinengaro - Mental and Emotional wellbeing,Taha Tinana - Physical wellbeing; andTaha Whanau - Family and Social wellbeing.Our connection with the whenua/land forms the foundation.When all these things are in balance, we thrive. When one or more of these is out of balance our wellbeing is impacted. Our mission is to provide integrated, culturally responsive support that aligns with Maori values and principles.Role Overview:As someone from within the Wanaka community, you will play a critical role in supporting whanau to achieve their aspirations and improve their overall well-being. This role involves working closely with whanau to navigate and access a range of services and resources, ensuring that care is delivered in a way that respects and integrates Maori cultural values and practices.A pivotal part of your role will be supporting whanau to be self-sufficient under the 7 pou of Whanau ora:Pou Toru - Whanau in Te Waipounamu are participating fully in society.Pou Rima - Whanau in Te Waipounamu are economically secure and successfully involved in wealth creation.Pou Ono - Whanau in Te Waipounamu are cohesive, resilient, and nurturing.Pou Whitu - Whanau in Te Waipounamu are responsible stewards of their living and natural environment.Key Responsibilities:Look for opportunities to promote all aspects of health under the Te Whare Tapa Wha model of wellbeing, including immunisation, health screening initiatives, mental wellbeing, and promoting the services available in the Wanaka community.Walk alongside whanau on their healthcare journey by supporting whanau to create their own personalised health plan and to set and reach their Hauora goals.Provide a culturally safe and supportive service for whanau that promotes independence, resilience, and importance so they become leaders in their own recovery.Advocate on behalf of whanau to ensure their needs are met and their voices are heard.Develop and maintain strong relationships with whanau, ensuring trust and respect in all interactions.Monitor and evaluate the progress of whanau, providing ongoing support and adjusting plans as needed to meet their evolving needs.Skills and Qualifications:Deep understanding of Maori culture, values, and traditions.This role requires the successful applicant to acquire Health and Wellbeing Certificate Level 3 or 4.Previous experience in a health or social support role is preferred.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with whanau and community members.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently as needed.A compassionate and empathetic approach to supporting individuals and whanau.Opportunity to work in a culturally enriching environment.Professional development and training in Maori health practices.Supportive and inclusive team culture.Uruuruwhenua will support the successful applicant towards further career progression in the health and wellbeing sector.How to Apply:If you are passionate about supporting whanau and have the skills and experience we are looking for, we would love to hear from you.
