Care and Support Worker- Kaiawhina, Pukekohe We are looking for a care and support worker to join our professional team.
We support both male and female Tangata (Care recipient) who have intellectual disabilities and will need a high level of 1:1 care to help them on their rehabilitation journey.
Some of the responsibilities include: Assisting with physical & personal care ensuring good personal hygiene such as washing, showering.
Support with cooking, household/property cleaning and other maintenance to keep the home a healthy and safe place.
Administering medication.
Driving to appointments, gym classes, and the supermarket.
A variety of other duties which enable them to lead a somewhat independent lifestyle.
It is important you can work to a rotating roster including weekends.
The shifts are as follows: 7am - 3pm 3pm - 11pm 11pm - 7am Ko wai koe | About You This role is unique, and you will be a crucial part in the care of our Tangata.
You will need to be able to get on with different kinds of people, as our Tangata live relatively active lifestyles.
Therefore, keeping up with them is very important.
You will need to: Have a qualification in health and wellbeing or community support worker, mental health, and disability sectors would be advantageous, however not mandatory.
Be confident, practical, and have good listening skills to address the needs of our Tangata.
Have previous experience in completing personal care responsibilities (desirable).
Have a solution-focused approach to issues and an empathetic approach to interactions with others.
Be physically fit and able to lift, along with having the ability to be on your feet for most of the day.
Please note: A full, clean class 1 driver's license with no restrictions is mandatory.
You must be residing in and legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
You will be required to undergo a Police Vetting check.
You will be required to complete a Health Check.
Te Whariki Whakaruruhau is the Te Roopu Taurima model of service that recognises the intrinsic value and relationship of Tangata (Care recipient), their whanau (Family), and kaimahi (Staff).
