Business Unit: Cubic DefenseCompany Details: Performs complex Electrical Engineering duties following designated standards and procedures. Focuses on continuously improving the designs and procedures to exceed customer expectations. This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. Works closely with other engineering disciplines – systems, software, mechanical, optics and production. Duties require application of engineering principles and techniques. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. May supervise subordinate engineering staff and lead design efforts.Job Details: Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Develops circuit, component, subsystem, and equipment interfaces and procurement specificationsDesigns digital, analog and radio frequency circuits, components, and subsystemsPrepares design specifications, analyses and makes recommendationsPerforms circuit interconnection or subsystem prototype assemblyPrepares design and operation objectives, specifications and resource needsRecommends test control, strategies, apparatus and equipmentEvaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or servicesConducts in-house design reviews and technical meetingsPrepares design proposal to reflect cost, schedule and technical approachesKeeps abreast of improvements in electronic engineering techniques and introduces them to projects in a controlled and risk-mitigated mannerSupport prototype construction, de-bug, and testsLog, compile and evaluate engineering dataWrite engineering manuals, procedures and reportsDevelop logic flowcharts and block diagramsMay support on-site installation activitiesMay give work assignments and check work of technicians or design support personnel on a common projectMay provide technical direction and guidance to Design Engineers, Technicians, or Design Support personnel assigned to work on a common projectGeneral Duties and Responsibilities:Comply with Cubic's Quality Management SystemComply with Cubic Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and proceduresEnsure own health and safety and that of others by following all rules and procedures, reporting and managing all hazards in the work area and actively contributing to, and participating in, company health and safety initiativesComply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organisationsComply with Cubic Human Resources ProceduresOther duties as requestedMinimum Job Requirements:Qualifications:Tertiary qualification in the field of electronics engineering, computer science, information systems, or other relevant technical disciplineSkills/Experience/Knowledge:Minimum of 10 years hands-on electronic product development experience in a broadly similar high-tech environmentExperience with low power, radio frequency, microcontroller and laser circuit designPersonal Qualities:Ability to work as a team or independently to achieve solid outcomes in response to incident and problem managementAbility to manage, develop, mentor and grow subordinate engineersAbility to work on own initiative and under pressurePossess excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to influence and manage stakeholders at all levelsDisciplined approach to system documentationGood project management and time management skillsDemonstrated resilience and commitment to task completionHave the flexibility to travel when requiredCondition of Employment:Successful outcome of a National Police CheckNZ working rightsWorker Type: Employee
