 Head of Risk – New Zealand  Auckland Description The Head of Risk - NZ is responsible for the implementation of, and compliance with, the Apex Risk Management Framework in their jurisdiction. Reporting to the Head of Risk - APAC, the Head of Risk - NZ leads a small team comprised of a Risk Manager and risk analysts.
Job specification Ensure local risk management processes and procedures are in line with the Group Risk Management Framework.Have a sound understanding of current and emerging global trends in the Risks Management.Provide strategic direction and support to senior management, operations, and the risk function to proactively manage risks by identifying, assessing and reporting on both risk and controls issues (adequacy and effectiveness).Oversee monitoring and reporting of key and emerging risks as well as identify mitigating controls and oversee implementation of control enhancements.Ensure production of accurate and timely local risk reporting to the Local Risk and Audit Committee (LARC), Local Boards and the Group risk function.Ensure knowledge is fully up to date with any  and all specific requirements regarding jurisdictional Regulators (as relevant) and liaise with the Regulator at periodic intervals on risk management and reporting.Maintain oversight on adherence with key policies and procedures on risk management.Work with Internal Audit, External Audit, and Compliance in the improvement of the control environment.Develop a risk-aware culture across 1st Line of Defence by establishing and promoting strong governance and culture of "no surprises" ensuring responsibility taken for concerns and issues raised. Work with staff locally to implement Risk Framework initiatives in a proportionate and pragmatic manner, ensuring appropriate escalation of incidents.Be an active stakeholder and provider of expert challenge and oversight to the in Client Acceptance Process, identifying and raising potential risk concerns.  Support the Local and Group Risk Committees.Provide oversight and guidance of Events, Complaints and Breaches and perform  (as appropriate) Root Cause Analysis for LARCs, local senior management, and the Regional Head of Risk; share findings with other offices and jurisdictions to ensure collaborative collective Group resolution(s) and drive a best in class risk culture.Maintain oversight control of Outsourcing arrangements, in line with the relevant Policy and liaise (as appropriate) with the Country Head, Head of Compliance, Operational Senior Leaders; own escalation of issues as appropriate.Influence Operations to execute optimal client service delivery including importance of Ops responsibility as a partner in optimal risk framework and risk management.  Identify controls and process gaps to drive an improved and robust control environment.Own the Business Continuity Plans update process and be responsible for correct application of BCP framework locally.Act as back-up of a Head of Risk in other jurisdiction(s) or as appropriate for the Regional Head of RiskSkills Required: 4-5 Years of experience of Risk Management at a Senior level, preferably in the financial services industry – a track record in fund management or fund administration sectors will be considered an advantageRelevant Risk Management qualification would be an advantageExperience working in both First and Second lines of defenceUnderstanding of Regulatory Obligations What you will get in return:A genuinely unique opportunity to be part of an expanding large global business;Competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience;Training and development opportunities Additional information: We are an equal opportunity employer and ensure that no applicant is subject to less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, gender identity, marital status, race, colour, nationality, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, responsibilities for dependants, physical or mental disability.
