SPAR Australia - is a prominent supermarket distributor within the retail / FMCG industry located in Acacia Ridge. They have experienced growth and are embarking on a new direction as they have moved into a state-of-the-art new warehouse and office and are strategically looking at the next 5-10 years. So this is an exciting time to join as they have a very exciting Category Manager role available
SPAR supplies grocery products, marketing and retail support services to approximately 300 independent retail supermarkets including the SPAR and 5 STAR banner groups located in Queensland, New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory and Pacific Island areas and is one of only two major suppliers to independent supermarket operators on the Eastern Seaboard of Australia. SPAR operates a large distribution centre of some 13,400sqm from premises located at Acacia Ridge on the southern side of Brisbane which carries approximately 7,500 dry grocery lines with a further 1,500 frozen/chilled product lines.
The successful applicant will be based in Brisbane and responsible for the achievement of key financial KPI's, negotiating and growing trade partner relationships, sourcing and development of the category products as well as delivering strategic initiatives in line with company objectives.
Responsibilities:
* Manage supplier relationships to achieve mutual business goals
* Maximise range that provides a competitive edge within the market.
* Manage and implement Promotional strategies with Suppliers that communicates the benefits of the retailer
* Manage and optimise profitability through inventory management, supplier negotiations, product development and sourcing strategies.
* Identify opportunities across the Business for additional profit and sales contribution.
* Maximise long term supply agreements for lowest cost of doing business
* Ensure implementation of company policies, code of conduct and ethics
Skills & Experience:
* Knowledge of the retail market to identify opportunities for product development via Category Management principles. (Preferred Pharmacy, FMCG, Supermarkets, retail)
* Development of Planogram principals to deliver improved product offer.
* Proven track record of category growth.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build solid working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
* Advanced analytical skills on Excel with the ability to use your findings to implement beneficial solutions.
