This includes the position description that will be honed by the incumbent and evolve over time, as will the nature of the Office of the PVC / DVC (Pacific) and the roles of the staff members within that office.This role will lead the Pacific academic agenda at the University of Otago and will lead the rollout of Pacific strategic commitments expressed in Pae Tata and Vision 2040: transforming lives, connecting communities, and nurturing the environment. This includes strengthening our place as a university firmly rooted in the Pacific region. The person in this role will uphold the University’s vision of being Te Tiriti o Waitangi led, and will lead the Office in implementing and monitoring the Pacific Strategic Framework 2022–2030.This role is a key member of the senior leadership team and as such will work closely with key stakeholders including the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Pro-Vice-Chancellors and the Office of the PVC/DVC (Pacific) to advance Pacific academic excellence at the University to increase levels of student participation, retention and success.The position is advertised as Pro-Vice-Chancellor / Deputy Vice-Chancellor, as the selection panel will make a recommendation for which level the role is appointed at following candidate interviews.Skills And Experience/Kā Pūkeka Me Kā WheakoThis position offers an exciting and unique opportunity to lead the University’s new phase of engagement with the Pacific.
