We have awesome benefits to support you including 5 weeks annual leave and hybrid working.About the roleAs the Manager Building Services, you will lead a significant team, overseeing 6 direct reports and a total of 45 staff members. Building Services is a critical function, ensuring compliance with the Building Act and related legislation, and delivering exceptional building services on behalf of the Manawatu District Council.This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.Your focus in this role will include:Provide leadership to the Building Services team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other councils and regulatory authorities.Ensure effective service delivery in alignment with service level agreements, business plans, and the Council's strategic objectives.Lead the provision of an effective, informative and efficient customer service function for those utilising these services.About youYou will possess exceptional leadership, critical thinking, and relationship management skills, with the ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver high-quality services.To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:Exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities, with a focus on team development and performance.Prior experience in the building industry or another regulatory discipline.Strong relationship management skills, capable of building and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships.High-level critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex issues.Proven decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset and sound business planning capabilities.What we offer:Competitive remuneration $159,951 to $188,178 with a 3% KiwiSaver employer contribution (where eligible).5 weeks annual leave and a community service day every year.Additional long service leave after qualifying periods.Parental leave benefits, including paid partner's leave, and top-up payments.Hybrid working principles.Free access to our on-site fitness equipment.Free annual flu vaccinations and subsidised health and eye checks every 2 years.Confidential counselling service.Professional memberships and assistance with study leave and fees.Various wellbeing spaces, including parents' room and wellness/prayer room; we value our employee experience.We are an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and welcome applications from all those suitably qualified for this position.We will review applications as they are received and may invite applicants to interview before the vacancy closing date, so please don't delay in submitting your application.
