At RJ's Confectionery, we are now recruiting for experienced and motivated individuals to join our production Night Shift as our Shift Manager working out of our very busy Levin manufacturing facility.
No day is the same at RJ's, so be prepared to be on the go. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is key in ensuring that production occurs in the most efficient, safe, and cost-effective manner to meet product demands.
About the role
As a Shift Manager, you are responsible for boosting operational performance and ensuring high-quality production is maintained in a safe, efficient manner. This role is responsible for linking the shift team to other teams by working proactively with other shift managers to implement improvement initiatives.

Provide feedback to the Production Manager on team performance and highlight areas of concern as soon as possible.
Ensure open and effective communication exists within the team.
Work with HR to maximize employee attendance and ensure planned and unplanned absenteeism aligns with set minimum targets.
Be consistent in the management of employees on a day-to-day basis.
Drive and motivate the team to achieve daily targets.
Ensure that products produced meet required specifications.
Ensure that all direct reports and anyone seen entering the factory is dressed according to the company GMP Policy.

Qualifications and Experience

3-5 years' experience working in a supervisory or leadership role within a food manufacturing environment.
Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills.
In-depth understanding of production processes.
Sound understanding of quality, food, and workplace health and safety.
Demonstrated experience in supervising, motivating, and assisting in the professional development of direct reports.

In addition, it's essential that you have the following:

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Sense of urgency, deadline-driven with exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders.
Troubleshooting ability, patient and level-headed.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to build rapport with direct reports and drive engagement.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Able to work independently and be a team player.
Ability to work in an environment that is "hands-on."
