About the role: Pou Rongoaa Maaori are part of a team of practitioners providing Rongoaa Maaori services to assist Tangata Whaiora and Whaanau presenting with health issues in Taamaki and Waikato regions, Increasing tangata whaiora access and options to tailor their hauora journey by collaborating with a range of services and specialists. Emphasis is placed on Maatauranga Maaori, recovery, whaanau and wrap around support.
Pou Rongoaa have their own skills that whakapapa Maaori, are recognised, interconnected and accepted to uphold the mauri, mana and integrity of Rongoaa Maaori. Such as:
Mirimiri (Range of massage, bodywork)Wairua Healing (pastoral support, Pure & Matakite)Whitiwhiti Koorero (cultural support, Te Reo & Maatauranga Maaori)Ngaa taonga tuku iho, Puoro and Waiata; are only some forms of rongoaa Maaori that uphold the tikanga of rongoaa Areas of responsibility for this role include: Tangata Whaiora and whaanau receive rongoaa services that are appropriate to their needs, planned, coordinated, evaluated and improved to make meaningful steps towards:

Appropriate tikanga (customs and rites) are observed

Support the achievement of better health outcomes for Maaori and accelerate Maaori health gains.
Support whaanau to resolve potentially complex issues which impact on their ability/desire to access services and to achieve outcomes.
To be considered for this role ideally you will need to have: Experience providing Rongoaa Maaori (voluntary, study or work)Evidence of support for the provision of Rongoaa services from mana whenua and/or Rongoaa mentor. Relevant or comparable qualification reflecting the mahi. Certificates in Te Reo or Tikaanga Maaori or prior learning equivalent; Experience applying Te Reo Maaori me onaa Tikanga and maatauranga Maaori practices Experience in working with whaanau and a wide range of age groupsExperience in developing integrated support plans and case management with a focus on high needs whaanau;Flexibility is must in this role, as travel to Taamaki and Waikato regions from will be required.
