THE OPPORTUNITY :

As Head of Strategic Projects & Multimedia Operations, you will be pivotal in leading strategic projects to further NZ Herald’s multimedia ambitions. You’ll ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and that our multimedia operations and technologies are running smoothly, delivering high-quality video and audio content. This role will support the delivery of diverse formats - video, podcasts, streaming, and social media. You’ll have proven leadership skills and the ability to influence others to help embed efficient workflows, leverage digital technologies, and inspire teams to achieve NZME’s multimedia ambitions.

HOW YOU’LL DO IT :

  1. You’ll have the ability to deliver projects that are strategically important, understanding what’s required in a newsroom environment.
  2. You will be strategically focused with the ability to prioritise and keep across multiple moving parts.
  3. You will be detail-oriented without losing sight of NZ Herald’s overarching goals.
  4. You will work with the wider team to test and learn from a technology and operational perspective, sharing insight about best practices.
  5. Help recommend and embed technologies and workflows to deliver different styles of video and audio content, specifically designed for consumption across platforms.
  6. Lead and collaborate across teams, championing NZME’s mission and ethics.

ABOUT YOU :

  1. You will have proven senior leadership experience working in a multimedia environment (digital, radio, video, social) - particularly from an operational perspective.
  2. You are highly skilled in managing multimedia projects, with a track record of success.
  3. Your ability to think strategically is matched by your hands-on experience with video, audio, and social media platforms. A natural leader, you excel at fostering a culture of collaboration and creativity.
  4. You thrive in dynamic environments and are calm under pressure.
