**Heads of Strategic Programmes & Major Programmes - Communications and Engagement**
Auckland Transport (AT) is leading the development of transport infrastructure and solutions that enable healthy and accessible communities. Regardless of your choice to walk, cycle, drive, take the ferry or train, we are passionate about working together to deliver safe, efficient, innovative and sustainable options whilst providing a transport system that will create a vibrant and connected Auckland.
We are on a journey and working to shape our organisation through an ambitious transformation programme providing for a more effective and efficient AT.

We are looking for two new leadership roles, a Head of Major Programmes Communications & Engagement and a Head of Strategic Programmes Communications and Engagement, to join us at an exciting time, as we embark on a renewed focus of listening and responding to our communities to deliver our biggest capital programme ever
These are key roles providing strategic communications and engagement leadership to forecast, manage and oversee successful delivery of large projects and priority programmes for AT.
As a senior Communications and Engagement team member you will have successfully delivered large scale projects or programmes within communities. You will juggle multiple internal clients and work with a range of senior internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities and identify and manage risk.
Each role will oversee approximately 15-20 staff including contractors and external suppliers, across an average of 6-7 major programmes and projects. These are complex, high-profile programmes that are critical to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Auckland's transport network and the quality and reliability of public transport. Supporting these roles requires a consistently high level of strategic advice, planning and communications and engagement delivery.
**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
You will bring 15+ years of experience in a senior communication and engagement role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position. You will have advanced expertise as an engagement practitioner, alongside the following:
- Leadership of a team in a complex organisation, shaping strategy and managing complex long term strategic issues.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communication and engagement strategies, particularly community engagement and consultation processes.
- An understanding and experience of infrastructure planning, business case, consenting and legislative processes.
- Experience working in infrastructure, transport or public service delivery is highly desirable.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills to understand complex problems as well as the ability to align communication and engagement strategies with organisational goals and objectives.
- Ability to think creatively to develop effective communication and engagement strategies for complex projects, policies and programmes that are impactful and fit for purpose.
We are looking for the full spectrum of true leadership - technical expertise, progressive thinking, innovation, optimism, resilience and the vision and commitment to build this critical part of our business.
