We are offering this unique role within the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine working alongside our team of Clinical Nurse Specialists, senior anaesthetic medical staff and multidisciplinary pain service personnel.

We are seeking a committed and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in acute pain management to join our interprofessional team based at Middlemore Hospital. The primary focus of the role is to provide client-centred pain management care working within an interdisciplinary team and to provide expert level education and support across inpatient areas at CMH. This key role will lead the advancement of professional knowledge and skills within the pain management specialty using current evidence based practice.

The Pain Service at Counties has diversely interesting and challenging cases. We provide services for a wide range of patients from a variety of different services such across the inpatient spectrum.

We also provide a specialised interdisciplinary approach for patients with complex and/or chronic pain needs, providing advice, clinical and psychological support to patients and education to the interdisciplinary teams caring for our patients.

The person appointed to this role will need to demonstrate the ability to contribute their advanced clinical and leadership skills and be part of the interdisciplinary team to improve, develop and integrate services. Working to the top of the nursing scope will be your aim, with strong developmental drive for yourself and the service essential.

The patient will be at the centre of your drive for excellence and innovation. To do this, your interpersonal and communication skills will match your strong clinical skills and clinical leadership.

The successful applicant will have the following:

- Current New Zealand Nursing Council registration as a Registered Nurse
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Current Proficient, Expert or Senior Nurse Level Professional Development Recognition Programme achievement
- Post graduate qualifications in pain management and/or a Diploma relevant to scope of practice
- At least 5 years’ recent post-registration experience in a relevant acute clinical environment (e.g. surgical ward, PACU, HDU)
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge and expertise in pain management (acute pain)
