Our Platform's Portal and APIs simplify access to dozens of products for hundreds of customers, and manages well over a 100,000 connections. We have big plans for 2024, including the imminent GA of Devoli Mobile and loads of interesting & challenging technical work.

We are a diverse team of 45 passionate Devolians, headquartered in an old pub in Victoria Park, and are looking for passionate people to come and join our family.

**The Role**

We have big ambitions for our SaaS Platform and are looking for great software engineers to help us to deliver on our plans.
- We relish a challenge and empower our people to solve hard problems, be they technical, customer, or business problems
- We firmly believe that software is only of value once it is solving real problems & creating value - in production

**We're looking for Software Engineers to help us deliver on our ambitions, grow as a team, and add new perspectives.**

Below is a snapshot of our current tech stack, and what we're looking for in order to fulfil our future plans.

Current:

- A collection of new services being built in Python and GO, fronted by React/Typescript (with NextJS)
- A legacy PHP / Yii monolith which powers our portal and which we are actively working to retire
- A number of additional services in Node and Kotlin we maintain
- Lots of API integrations with 3rd party providers & vendors like Chorus, Spark, TFF, Enable, Stripe, IPMS, and many more
- We use common tools like Github (with Copilot), persist to SQL, S3, and MongoDB, and run on AWS

Future:

- A distributed architecture running on AWS with core services in Python and GO (backend) and React/Typescript (frontend)

We have a good mix of skills in the team today and are looking for great humans to help us get more stuff done.

**Requirements**:

- You consider yourself to be a experienced software engineer - you've made mistakes in the past and know how to avoid them in the future, and have a high level of pragmatism when it comes to your work.
- You have experience as a Senior or Lead Software Engineer (or similar) in a team environment, working across the layers of a modern software stack - ideally in a commercial SaaS environment
- You are comfortable using Python or Go in order to get stuff done, and have an opinion on what good code looks like in either
- You understand software architecture & design principles - including security - and have designed & developed comprehensive services or components
- You understand the value of communicating well, and are able to ask more of the right questions to help everyone understand the desired customer outcomes
- You've worked on cloud (hosted or native) solution and understand the benefits and pitfalls, and have been involved in running a production service
- You're able to provide caring and honest feedback to those you work with, and are receptive to receiving the same
- You're interested in working in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment
- A focus on Frontend development or UX/UI Design would be beneficial.
- Experience in Telecommunications is beneficial, but not necessary. What's critical is your ability and attitude to learn something new on a daily basis
