**_ The role/Te mahi_**

The Māori Engagement Advisor role is a new and exciting opportunity to progress the Library’s connection and support of our Māori staff and students.

In the context of the University’s Māori strategic direction, you will play a key advisory role to the Library Senior Leadership team on the Library’s response to Māori student transition, achievement, and success across all levels of study.

In this role, your focus will be on developing relations with Māori staff and students and connecting across all library portfolios.
- Additionally, you will:

- Develop, deliver, and evaluate an annual library programme of engagement and activities for Māori students.
- Engage with the University Māori Centre Te Huka Mātauraka to support all students, especially those transitioning to first-year tertiary study.
- Connect Māori postgraduate students and academic staff with library research services.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of Library services, spaces, and collections that better reflect and welcome the University Māori Community.

Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako _**

We are looking for an experienced and innovative leader.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Proven experience working in Māori communities.
- Knowledge of Tikanga Māori and proficiency in Te Reo Māori.
- Exceptional customer focus and understanding of customer needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisation and planning skills.
- Experience in effectively managing relationships and collaborative work practice.
- Ideally you will also have:

- Knowledge of issues and challenges for Māori within tertiary educational contexts.
- Understanding of Māori knowledge concepts and approaches to research.
- Understanding of Māori knowledge concepts and approaches to learning and teaching.

This is a full time, permanent position, located in Dunedin.
