**Acute Demand Senior Medical Officer**

Permanent position: 24 to 40 hours per week

Shifts will be predominately Monday to Friday with some on call and weekend work required.

**About the Acute Demand Programme
The acute demand programme provides short-term treatment and support to patients who may have been otherwise admitted to, or have been recently discharged from, hospital. This care can be delivered by General Practice teams and via the Acute Demand Community Nursing Team. It also includes care delivered via Urgent Care and in the 24-Hour Surgery Observation Unit.

**What you will be doing
As the Acute Demand Senior Medical Officer, you will be working to support the Clinical Director 24HS and the Pegasus Health Acute Demand team.

You will be responsible for:

- Taking an active role as a leader within the Acute Demand team
- Day to day provision of medical care and advice to support and enhance the care provided by the Acute Demand Nursing Team in patient’s home or at 24Hr Surgery
- Liaising with and supporting GPs / secondary care specialists / 24 Hour surgery staff and the Acute Demand Nursing Team who are managing actual and potential Acute Demand patients
- Participating in, and leading quality improvement activities

**What you will bring**
- Current experience of the Acute Demand Programme
- At least 10 years postgraduate / qualification experience in a relevant medical discipline
- Experience in managing complex conditions inside or outside a hospital setting working with secondary care colleagues and trained nursing staff
- Teaching, supervision, and training experience
- Relationship management skills
- Commitment to implement the best possible outcomes for the Acute Demand Coordination Service and to improve the care for the people of Canterbury
