**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Nurse Educator’s primary purpose is to work within the directorate and organisation contributing to the development of clinical practice through the delivery of education to the nursing workforce. This role provides support to the broader nursing workforce by developing, contributing and collaborating with other service and directorate nurse educators and members of the health team to improve patient outcomes.
The Nurse Educator contributes to developing further the directorate and Te Toka Tumai’s workforce education opportunities, plans and strategic objectives. This is achieved by informing and contributing to the development of resources with evidence-based education that can be applied within the directorate and organisation. The Nurse Educator works to ensure that key workstream opportunities are well utilised and further education strategic aspirations achieved.
As a senior nurse, this role also has a responsibility for improving the quality of professional nursing practice and safeguarding high standards of care in Te Toka Tumai by supporting an environment in which excellence in clinical care can flourish. This role includes both departmental and directorate responsibilities across the directorate.
This is a Fixed Term, Part-Time (0.5 FTE) role You will also be joining a great team environment and working with a dedicated team.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**

- RGN; RGON; RPN; RCpN with or without BN or BHSC (Nursing)
- Registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
- Evidence of competence to practice within the Registered Nurse scope of practice
- A current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC)
- A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development
- Postgraduate certificate/diploma in specialty nursing practice.
- Working towards completion of Masters Degree in nursing or a health[1]related area.
- Leadership and patient/client management skills
- Clinical teaching/academic experience and programme development ability.
- Practice assessment, appraisal and feedback skills.
- Knowledge of quality improvement processes and principles
- Advanced specialty knowledge and practice expertise.
- Proficient or Expert Level of practice.
- Knowledge of nursing professional development issues
- Masters Degree
- Research skills including data analysis and critical appraisal skills and clinical audit
- Experience in multi-disciplinary clinical teaching.
- Strategic planning and policy development skills
- Understanding of government health policy
- Project management experience
