Trainees may be required to rotate between various hospitals within the Lower North Island Training network in order to complete training.

RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in the relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer to either the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or Resident Doctors - Association (RDA) Single-Employer Collective Agreements.

**Experience and Eligibility**
- Minimum of 2 years postgraduate work experience; ideally with experience in a range of medical and surgical runs or Registrar level experience to ensure you have a broad base of clinical knowledge;

**Our Hospitals and Services**

Join our fellow 615 Resident Medical Officers employed by two districts in the Central region (Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley and Wairarapa Districts) to gain leading experience, medical supervision and training.

**Capital & Coast - Wellington Regional and Kenepuru Hospitals**

Radiology Services provide a wide range of diagnostic and interventional imaging for the district CCHV and adjacent regions, including Angiography, CT, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and General Radiography. The Radiology service is multi-disciplinary, employing Radiologists, Nurses, Administration Support Staff and Medical Imaging Technologists, and is a training institution for Radiology Registrars -, NMT - s, MRI MIT - s and Sonographers

There are 10 accredited Radiology Registrar training positions based at Capital and Coast. RANZCR has moved towards a regional approach to training, and therefore includes Palmerston North and Lower Hutt as part of this network as well as the private sector.

**The Radiology Training Programme**

Clinical radiology is at the forefront of medical technology, and has revolutionised medicine over the past 100 years. This specialty gives you scope for an exciting and varied career in clinical medicine, teaching and research.

Training is expected to take 5 years (full time equivalent). Long term, a career in clinical radiology offers flexibility and control over where and when you work, making it possible to achieve a healthy work-life balance.

A radiologist is a specialist medical doctor who has had postgraduate training in performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging tests, and carrying out interventional procedures or treatments, using X-ray, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging equipment. Radiologists assist other doctors and specialists in treating their patients. They do this by making a diagnosis, and by providing treatment using medical imaging.

Radiologists have the medical knowledge to understand and explain a patient - s medical problem or symptom through images of the inside of the body.
