The International Marketing and Recruitment Team is responsible for the recruitment of international students, identifying and maximising international business development opportunities and enhancing Otago’s profile internationally.

We are currently seeking an outstanding relationship manager to fill one of our Regional Market Manager positions.

In this role you will oversee the international marketing and student recruitment activities within your assigned international markets or regions. Initially this role is likely to focus on selected countries within South-East Asia and Europe, however this may change to meet emerging opportunities or to best meet the needs of the team.
- Other responsibilities include:

- Fostering and managing relationships with a portfolio of international partner institutes, government and non-government agencies and education agents to maximise the recruitment of high quality international students.
- Identifying and maximising business development opportunities for the University, liaising with academics across Otago and at partner institutes.
- Negotiating and renewing B2B contracts.
- Undertaking international marketing activities, including virtual and in person events both onshore and offshore.
- Actively participating in the marketing planning process and contributing to the development of innovative, creative marketing and recruitment initiatives.

We are looking for a highly talented relationship manager with a high degree of business acumen and diplomacy and who has a proven record in building and developing relationships with a range of international clients.

You will have an appropriate tertiary qualification and an advanced understanding of relationship marketing, preferably within the international higher educational context.

You will be a highly professional and polished presenter who can engage and enthuse a range of audiences. In addition to strong oral and written English communication skills, you will also have excellent cross-cultural communication skills and can adapt your communication style to meet the needs of different cultures.

Given the fast-paced nature of this role and the need to be effective in the role immediately, applicants should ideally already have previous experience in the international higher education sector, with a demonstrated ability to successfully manage partner relationships and with direct experience in international student recruitment.

- Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to understand the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to take initiative and operate effectively, efficiently and independently.
- Ability and willingness to learn the education offerings at Otago and education policies and regulations across different countries and organisations.
- Confidence to use the range of technical systems at Otago to support your work.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing market conditions within international higher education.
- The ability to self-manage a high-volume workload across a range of tasks and to prioritise and meet deadlines with confidence.
- A strong sense of personal resilience.
- An enthusiastic team player, always willing to support others, collaborate and share expertise.
- A strong sense of humour and positive outlook.
- International experience is highly desirable.

**_ Further details/Pūroko_**

This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), permanent position.

Overseas travel is a requirement for this role (with trip durations potentially up to 3-4 weeks), as is the ability and flexibility to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate international time zones and the needs of international partners.

We offer 5 weeks’ annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme, and the opportunity to work in the exciting and fast-paced international higher education sector.
