Kia Ora Ake is a new, locally co-designed approach to tamariki hinengaro wellbeing in Counties Manukau. Kia Ora Ake has been designed especially for Counties communities, in partnership with Mana Whenua i Taamaki Makaurau, whaanau, communities, health services, educators and schools.

Kia Ora Ake is funded as part of the national Mana Ake programme and is a school
- and community-based hinengaro (mental and emotional) wellbeing approach providing support to primary and intermediate school aged tamariki, their whaanau and the schools they attend.

This position’s employment will be placed with Te Pae Kaakaho (Counties Manukau Cultural Support Team) and work very closely with Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The role is intended to have a wide range of functional relationships with Mana Whenua, child health / mental health services, education, schools, kura kaupapa Maaori, and community organisations.

**Some of the key tasks in this role will include**:

- Observation of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Provide cultural liaison for equitable health outcomes throughout the phased implementation and ongoing provision of the Kia Ora Ake approach for Counties Manukau
- Timely, appropriate and effective referral and discharge across the continuum of cultural care and mental health care
- Strategic relationship / partnership development and maintenance of excellent working relationships with the Kia Ora Ake Provider Network, schools, kura kaupapa Maaori, communities and community organisations
- Effective responsiveness within role with all stakeholders
- Co-ordinating and supporting cultural supervision / coaching across the kia ora ake continuum

**Essential**:

- Experienced cultural practitioner with at least 5 years experience in a community setting (NGO/education/health sector)
- Excellent communication skills in Te Reo and English in both oral and written form
- Strong networks in the Maaori community
- Experience working with complex Maaori whanau
- Knowledge of Maaori Health and/or Maaori Mental Health are desirable skills.
- Full, clean drivers licence
