- Travel may be required to other clinic sites in Mid Canterbury
**Mō mātou | About Us**
Meet the challenge of working with children and adolescents and their family / whanau who access the South Community & Outreach Team (Child, Adolescent & Family Mental Health Service).
This is a specialist team that provides assessment and treatment of young people up to 18 years of age, who present with moderate to severe mental health problems, and their families. You’ll be a key clinician working as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, case management and therapeutic intervention for our clients - young people who have complex and changing needs.
**Mō te tūnga - About the Role**
This is a demanding and challenging role within a supportive team. You will develop and regularly review a job plan and caseload with the Clinical Manager.
The ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with young people, family/whanau, and community organisations is essential. You’ll need great organisation and excellent time management to keep up with this exciting client group with flexibility in your approach and a passion for working with young people and seeing them succeed.
The clinicians on the Team have a range of skills and areas of clinical expertise
- we’ll provide you with a great opportunity to enhance your skills in a specialty area. Some travel may be required for Outreach clinics - we cover south Christchurch to Ashburton and would consider someone who lives in that area but who can travel to Christchurch on a weekly basis for team meetings. More time would be needed in Christchurch initially to build knowledge and skills. Our current Christchurch location is at The Princess Margaret Hospital site, moving to Hillmorton site later in the year.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Providing case management, comprehensive psychiatric assessment and clinical interventions to young people individually or in groups as part of this specialist service and multidisciplinary team;
- Effectively managing a caseload with regular reviews and job planning with the Clinical Manager;
- Participating in rostered working hour duties including responding to crisis / emergency presentations;
- Working collaboratively and building strong community relationships with external agencies striving for better health outcomes for young people and their families/whanau.
**Ko wai koe | About You**
If you are a Registered Social Worker with clinical mental health experience, we are interested in you If you are an experienced Social Worker with less than 2 years in mental health practice, there will be a requirement for post graduate study and clinical support through the New Entry to Specialist Practice programme.
- Strong clinical/organisational skills and well-developed clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health settings.
- Experience in outpatient case management (assessment and treatment).
- Ideally experience in clinical teaching, supervision and supporting and championing change in clinical settings as part of a team
- The ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively with young people, family/whanau, and with other agencies;
- Great personal organisation and excellent time management skills to keep up with the demand of this role;
- Being a DAO is desirable;
- You will be an NZ Registered Social Worker who is confident in Social Work practise within multidisciplinary settings.
