CAFSouth (Child, Adolescent & Family Mental Health Service
- South Community & Outreach Team) is a specialist mental health team that provides assessment and treatment of young people up to 17 years of age who present with serious mental health problems, and their families/whanau. CAFSouth catchment area is Christchurch to Ashburton, with our base in Christchurch and clinics in Rolleston and Ashburton.

Young people can have a challenging time - imagine childhood/adolescence and mental health combined. Our mahi can be immensely satisfying helping them and their family/whanau to see change and positive future possibilities. Our multidisciplinary teams are focused on supporting our staff to develop the skills necessary to work effectively in this demanding area of healthcare and to work collaboratively with external agencies to meet the needs of young people and their family/whanau. There are several different clinical pathways and trainings that can provide support for staff new to this child and adolescent specialty. It’s a great professional development opportunity. You will bring your professional experience to add to our team’s collective knowledge base.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- clinical case management with assessment, formulation and treatment
- providing focused interventions with young people for improving functioning and enabling transition to community supports
- adhering to guidelines of Cultural Safety and the Treaty of Waitangi
- developing and regularly reviewing a job plan and caseload with the Clinical Manager and clinical lead
- working collaboratively with external agencies striving for better health outcomes in our community
- participating in rostered working hour duties including responding to crisis / emergency presentations through assessment and developing risk management plans;

- An experienced Registered Nurse with a recent mental health background, with a current NZ practicing certificate
