**Job Description**:
**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**
We are on the hunt for a Power Systems Analyst to provide power system analysis and support to the Trading and Generation Development Teams. Your primary role is to ensure Contact operates successfully as a participant in the New Zealand Electricity Market (NZEM). You will also be responsible for developing power system grid connection solutions and identifying power system risk for new generation connections.
Some of the key tasks of this role are to;
- Manage power system outage planning risk.
- Interpret and identify power system constraint risk.
- Provide advice and technical support to our existing generation sites and proposed generation developments on commissioning activities and compliance studies.
- Conduct analysis for generation development projects - identifying power system capacity and grid congestion.
- Participate in project development to seek optimal grid connection and least cost transmission solutions for new generation.
- Maintain and develop transmission analysis tools and software to ensure they are fit for purpose.
This role reports into our Transmission Manager.

You will be a technical expert in the field of power system operations and analysis and have an understanding of the NZEM.
We will rely on your strong electrical engineering and analytical mindset to identify complex issues and guide us when it comes to providing effective solutions. Your communication skills are top notch, you’re able to decipher these issues in a clear and concise manner that everyone can understand.

We are open to the skills and experience you bring, but ideally, we’d like you to have the following;
- A degree or an equivalent Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (power systems).
- NZ Electricity Industry and power system operational/planning experience.
- Power Factory (Digsilent) power system software experience.
- Experience using market system simulation tools.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
