**Purpose of the Department Function**
- We are currently looking for a Composite Design Engineer to join our Auckland based engineering team in a full-time position

**Description of the Role**
- You will be working as part of a full-service composite company with integrated design consultancy, mechanical testing, and materials supply and processing that serves customers across the Asia Pacific Region.
You will report directly to the regional engineering manager in a local team of 9 designers to deliver complex and challenging projects throughout the region, and part of a wider international consultancy team of 25 based around the world
You will be hands on in delivering design projects, and responsible for guiding, reviewing and signing off other’s work and mentoring other team members.
The role includes regular interaction with team mates as well clients, both external and with the materials and technology departments of Gurit. Being self confident, with great communication and organization skills is a must, with a proven ability to lead a team.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Structural Engineering for yachts, powerboats and commercial vessels, architectural components, vehicles and transport projects, and industrial components.
- Working alongside a team of design engineers and draftsman, to guide the design process review and sign off calculations and drawings
- Building and auditing FEA models
- Supporting and improving in-house tools, systems and innovation within the engineering team.
- Provide engineering over-site of a mechanical testing laboratory
- Communicate with customers and manage project timelines and delivery.
- Concept design work in AutoCAD and Rhino
- Able to carry out analysis in FEA (Altair Hyperworks)

**Skills and Experience**
- You will need to have more than 2 years experience working in the field as a composite engineer with experience in a consultancy business preferred. We are looking for someone with a firm grasp on both theoretical and practical aspects of designing and building with composites
You must have a Bachelor of Engineering as a minimum, and membership of Engineering NZ (or other registered body) is preferred. Being a Chartered Engineer would be an advantage
Experience in finite element analysis is required, preferably with Altair Hyperworks, but an understanding of the modelling process is essential.
