Auckland City, New Zealand HEB Construction Full time

The primary purpose of this position is to provide design support to our operational projects, precast division, and our tender teams (both temporary works and permanent designs) to enhance innovative, cost effective and safe construction performances for our construction and precast teams, and in the case of our tender teams, to assist in the successful bidding of projects.

**THE ROLE**:

- Temporary works design including e.g. our typical HEB staging bridge configurations, elevated working platforms, ground working platforms/pads, special formwork and access mechanisms, temporary support to deep excavations, etc.
- Input into D&C tenders (and contracts) - scheme optimisation of preferred designs, development of alternative designs and working with, and potentially managing, external designers
- Development of construction staging sequencing and modelling as required
- Design, technical support and/or certifying of precast pre-stressed items for HEB Precast e.g. double T's propping, mould capacity checks, hollowcore beams, Super T's and other. HEB have a long-term goal to provide a design build service of bridge girders.
- Servicing the design, review and detailing needs of our various Project Managers in terms of their temporary works requirements for selected small projects, permanent works design
- Assistance with business development
- Provide technical support to all staff as required
- Complete permanent works designs where required
- Assist in the development of management, foiling, and computational systems within the HEB design team
- Working with the Engineering Manager to successfully deliver the above, and anything else that may be required.

**THE CANDIDATE**:

- Tertiary Qualification(s) in Civil Engineering
- Practical and relevant construction site experience
- Structural Design Experience (8 years+)
- Experience in heavy civil construction
- Advanced computer and design skills.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
- Experience with structural analysis software and Autodesk products (i.e AutoCAD, Robot Structural Analysis, Structural Bridge Design)
- Current driver's licence.
- Excellent communications skills both written and oral
- Ability to build rapport with people/groups quickly
- Advanced planning and organisational skills
- Be comfortable using technology and integrating technology into the work stream, when beneficial
- Self-Motivated, with excellent Analytical and time management skills
- Positive, easy going attitude with a drive to do what's best for the company
