Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
As our Mechanical Supervisor
you will coordinate the day to day reactive maintenance for Hutt Hospital
within your service. With no two days being the same, this role would be considered a move upwards in your trade career.
Our technical services team is the backbone of the hospital, and provide support and services to ensure our clinical team can concentrate on ensuring our community is kept well.
Reporting to the Mechanical Systems Manager you will be joining a collaborative team who are working on improving systems, increasing confidence in delivery and implementing best practice with the end goal of ensuring that Hutt hospital and its associated buildings are safe, fit for purpose and operating in a responsive manner.
This role provides training and development and the opportunity for you to advance or further hone your skill base in a dynamic environment.
Whilst the role is based at Hutt Hospital you will be working with the Wellington Trade Supervisors providing coverage (travelling to Wellington, Porirua and Kāpati Coast) when necessary to create consistency in delivery across the district.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
The Property & Facilities team is part of the wider Finance and Business Services directorate and is responsible for all facets of building infrastructure and its supporting systems. We oversee plant and equipment including reactive and planned maintenance activities through to investment into new builds and large complex upgrade works.
Moū - About you
The ideal person for this role is someone who is a self-starter, has excellent communication skills that can be applied across all platforms and understands the full spectrum of mechanical services and their related systems. You must be able to balance technical understanding against solution based thinking.
Most importantly is having the drive to manage, motivate and grow people within your team.
In addition to being suitably qualified with either a relevant trade, tertiary degree or considerable experience in this field we are seeking interest from people who:
- Have a passion for the industry you work in and a strong desire to assist in the delivery of health care services
- Can build relationships within the Property and facilities team as well as our wider clinical teams and subcontractors
- Understand maintenance requirements - this is not a construction position
- Be able to supervise your team and sub-contractors
- Understanding contracts and the legal compliance/regulations our team operate under
