He angitūtanga | About the role
How would you like to join the team in protecting some of Manawatū's taonga animals, plants and taiao, with the opportunity to work amongst some of Aotearoa's most special places?
The Ranger, Project Lead Biodiversity is a senior member of the Biodiversity Team involved in the planning, management, delivery and reporting of large scale and complex biodiversity projects.
You will join the Regional Operations team to work alongside our Treaty partners and key stakeholders such as public agencies, landowners, iwi, hapu, whanau, and the wider community to advocate and achieve great outcomes for conservation that are sustainable and continue beyond the project.

**The position will be focussed on**:

- managing projects and contracts
- building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, community groups, and iwi, whānau and hapū
- driving continuous improvement across our biodiversity work programme at a local and regional level.

We are looking for a team player who is passionate and enthusiastic about biodiversity and the conservation of Aotearoa's natural flora and fauna. You will be highly motivated, well organised, have a positive attitude and show initiative.
If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you:

- A formal qualification and/or proven practical experience related to natural heritage or conservation management.
- Strong communication skills, particularly writing for a purpose.
- Proven experience leading projects or programmes, including planning, implementation, supervision, delivery within budget and timeframes, and reporting.
- Contract management experience.
- Excellent relationship management and leadership skills.
- Ability to work self-autonomously, strong organisation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, GIS and other systems.
- A strong commitment to exceptional health and safety work practices and able to promote this culture among others.
- The ability to think strategically and strive for continuous improvement.
- Current full Class 1 New Zealand driver licence.

**Desirable**:

- Current first aid certificate.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori.
- Growsafe certificate.
- Controlled Substance licence.

The Manawatu Operations team is a passionate team, experts in their fields of Biodiversity, Community and Heritage and Visitors that work closely together and there is often the opportunity to support each other depending on the priorities of the district.
The Regional Operations Group is responsible for delivering conservation work on the ground through our biodiversity, recreation/historic, community engagement and visitor centre teams.

The salary range for this position is $66,535 to $83,906, with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory - this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of
