We want more good people to come and do great things with us.
We love where we live. That’s why we work so hard to look after our region and the people who live and work in the Waikato region.
Customers sit at the heart of everything we do, and all staff have an important role to play in the delivery of exceptional customer service.
Our work is as diverse as the region we care for; from the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to the slopes of Ruapehu. We’ve got ambitious goals and there are some tricky issues, but that’s what makes it so interesting.
We are seeking a Waikato Tainui Iwi affiliated student/intern who has an interest in environmental management to work with our Hamilton based Catchment Management team for up to 16 weeks over the summer months. The Catchment Management team focus on building partnerships with landowners and stakeholders on projects relating to soil conservation, water quality and bio-diversity protection and enhancement.
You will work alongside staff in the field and office who are implementing river and catchment management work in collaboration with landowners and local iwi within the Waipa Lower and Central Waikato Zones. You may also help prepare and review plans and reports to assist with project management and implementation of the teams work programme.
Ideally you will enjoy working with people; have a real interest in promoting sustainable land use and protecting and enhancing the natural environment.
**In this role you will;**
- Undertake field inspections, collecting data and inputting it into databases.
- Have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and planning skills.
- Be organised and self-motivated.
- Be a competent MS suite user and ideally be an advanced MS Excel user.
- Have a full driver's license, be physically fit and a confident swimmer.
If you have knowledge of land management, erosion control, riparian management or bio-diversity protection and enjoy working with farmers, community groups and stakeholders then we would like to speak with you
**Please note that this is a fixed term opportunity for approximately 3-4 months.
