**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

This is an exciting and varied role where no two days are the same It offers the opportunity to support students, helping them stay well and connecting them seamlessly with necessary supports.

We are looking for a qualified and highly motivated Counsellor, Allied Health Clinician or Psychologist to support students through their time at university. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have experience with brief intervention and risk management, this may be the perfect role for you.

This is a **full-time** (37.5 hours per week), **permanent** opportunity. We are also open to applicants seeking part time work (0.8 FTE).
The remuneration is $85,000 - $95,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

This is a busy but empowering role where you will have the opportunity to change lives. To do that effectively you will need:

- A tertiary qualification in the area of Counselling, Psychology, Mental Health, or related field.
- A valid Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act registration
- Experience working with brief intervention
- Proven skills in building and maintaining relationships with clients and community agencies
- Energy to be part of a busy team
- A good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Knowledge of mental health issues and skill in managing high risk situations
- Excellent time management, sound clinical judgement and tech savvy

The Counselling team provides short-term brief intervention counselling support for students by helping them manage issues that may be impacting on their studies to assist and support them to achieve their full potential at the University.
