**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and creative individual to join our Student Equity team as a **Rainbow** **Support Adviser. **The role of the Rainbow Support Adviser is to manage a range of initiatives and projects that support the success, retention, and experience of the University of Auckland’s rainbow student communities.

In this role, you will operate in an advisory capacity to staff and students and contribute to the delivery of an effective pastoral care service. This will include linking students to culturally appropriate support services, and ensuring referrals are dealt with in a sensitive and respectful manner. You will have a high level of professionalism and can maintain confidentiality.

You will also contribute to the development of staff capabilities for those supporting rainbow students, and seek out and share new resources / info with the team and wider university community.

This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), permanent opportunity.
The remuneration is $68,600 - $84,700 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

You will also have the following qualifications and experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with clients from the targeted communities.
- Experience facilitating trainings, maintaining community networks and coordinating events.
- Skills and experience working with people experiencing mild to moderate levels of distress.
- Cultural competence in working with the diversity of the student population.
- An ability to problem solve under pressure.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including the ability to deal with sensitive matters.
- Knowledge of community pathways and agencies that relate to rainbow communities.
